I’ve just begun compositing my shots for the film. Ed had a class that showed us how to do comp well, and I took all of that on board to make sure it looked as good as it could be!
This meant rendering out every layer into a SWF format so we could have clean animation in After Effects that we could add effects to. Ed taught us how to make shadows for characters on screen, and I used my basic knowledge of After Effects to make some light his the characters. I didn’t realise how much time it takes to make a good comp for one scene. I made sure to not add too much to it, but add just enough pieces that the characters felt like they were in the world.
