REJECTS – UPDATED PLOT 04/11/2019

Artist finishing colouring skin of character design (average looking character, pencil coloured, nice linework).
Bright light under lamp.
Gets thrown away.
Artist gets up and takes a break.

(POV of page)
SCRAP is in a ravine like area, darkness is creeping in as he panics and looks around. He moves toward a light, but it gets consumed by darkness, along with another. He begins running toward a glow peeking out from a squiggle on the page. He turns to see the darkness gaining on him.
He reaches the coloured squiggle and pulls it open, diving through towards the light.

(Lands in Cowboy Mermaid world)
He busts through the doors outside of a saloon, he realises he’s floating. He looks around to see an Atlantis like Western town, before long he starts getting shot at and chased by two cowboy mermaids.
He hops onto a seahorse and tries to evade them, finding a way out. He turns to see the darkness is consuming this world too.
He looks down at his colours and grabs a line of colour sticking out of his linework and jumps off the seahorse, forming this line into a door to jump through.
It works and he hops through, and is about to close it, but sees the mermaids running from the darkness and gestures them to come through.
They all jump through.

(Lands in Racoon Noire world)
They land in the back of a getaway vehicle being driven by three raccoon robbers, being chased by a raccop. The raccoons throw bags of money into the back with them.
The darkness is seen gaining on them, and the raccoons turn and drive down an alley that actually leads to a dead end. The way out is now blocked by the Raccop, and SCRAP points to the darkness closing in. The Raccop shoots at it but nothing happens and they panic. SCRAP takes another line of colour from his body and forms another door against the dead end, they all jump through.

(Lands in a circus world)
They all fall out of a wardrobe that is part of a magician’s circus act. They begin to run as they darkness begins consuming the tent. The Raccop gestures for them to go with him as they run across the tent, the strongman throws a bench at the darkness but it just falls into its void. The magician tries to cast a spell but just makes flowers appear from his cane.
SCRAP grabs another colour from his body and forms the door of a tent, and they frantically jump through.

(Land at the bottom of a bunch of post it notes)
They land in an almost blank page, with letters floating about as they notice they’re almost at the top of the desk.
The darkness slowly creeps through the door. The strongman lift up the cannon with the stuntman in it, as he shoots up but only gets halway up the notes before he falls back down.
They all look at SCRAP (who now only has two colours left on his body, his shirt collar and his skin.) and lift him up, forming a human pyramid with all of them. The Raccop grabs a match and lights the cannon, shooting SCRAP all the way up to the top where, in midair, he pulls his collar colour and forms a door that he lands on.
He takes a look through and sees it’s the sketchbook. Then he looks down at the group of characters, and the darkness so close to them.
We cut to them about to accept their fate, when a line of colour can be seen just over their heads. They look up to see SCRAP (now fully uncoloured) and he gestures them to follow, and begin climbing the rope.

(Land in empty sketchbook page)
As he waits, he’s alone on this blank page.
He looks around, and at himself, colourless & discouraged.
Is sad that he feels too basic looking without colour.
The rest of the rejected characters begin to come onto the page, few by few, celebrating that they’re all on this new page. Quickly they are able to finally close the door, and do so before the darkness can seep through. The door is shut and the darkness disappates as the door disappears.
The more that come in, a few get into their poses around the main character.
Adjusting to the light of the lamp like it’s the sun.
The rest are setting up the backdrop, painting and building a set & logo.
They all pose and take their position in prep for the return of the artist.
Artist returns, says he must’ve been tired and forgot to colour in the middle character. Zooms into main character as artist begins colouring him. He smiles wide.
Artist likes the designs now.
Zooms out and shows the entire page.
The page is full of random and crazy scrapped characters, with the logo, built with anything and everything they had, of the name ‘REJECTS’.
